Volcom team rider Coco Ho just claimed the 2009 ASP Women's World Tour Rookie of the Year!
At the young age of 18 after finishing 4th on the 2009 World Tour, she was the highest–rated rookie amongst the ASP Top 17, as well as the only surfer amongst the rookie class to win a WCT event in 2009. Coco set high expectations for herself this year and it showed.
"This is the best award to win," Coco said. "It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and it’s great to have won it with five really strong rookies on Tour last year. They pushed me really hard and the Rookie of the Year award means a lot to me."
Now with the 2009 year behind her, Coco is ready to enjoy some nice time at home on the North Shore of Oahu before the 2010 season kicks in.
"Looking to next year, I’m hoping to stay within the top five on the ratings," Coco said. "I’m hoping that if my year starts off well that I won’t have to do the 'QS and that I can just focus my time on the World Tour, but I’m just going to see how the year plays out.
