VANS Girls Combi Pool Classic
DYLA Magazine wasn't able to make the First Annual VANS Combi Classic, but Chris Zsarnay was and he took some sick photos for all of us to enjoy. By looking at Chris's photos, this was the best place to be besides Big Bear on a rainy day in Southern California this past Saturday. All the major supporters of woman's skateboarding was there and sporting their stuff with little booths.
Alexis Sablone Finds Gold at X Games 16
She said it’s luck, but we’re not buying it. After taking five years off the regular competition to earn a degree in architecture, Alexis Sablone is back in a big way.
The goofy-foot stuck all of her tricks in her first run at X Games 16 to challenge the ladies from the get-go. In her second run she took two hard falls, but it didn’t slow her down. Visibly determined to claim a medal at X Games, Sablone hustled to her take off spots and picked herself right back up after falling, not wasting any precious run time allotted in the new Skateboard Street format.
Fiolek Claims X Games Gold
Sara Price was the first out of the gates at the women’s Super X Moto X, but Ashley Fiolek would be the first to pass the finish line, claiming her second X Games gold medal.
With a strong start, X Games novice Price held onto her lead until Fiolek passed her through the Big Air ramp tunnel. The Red Bull rider would lead the charge for the remainder of the six –lap race.

Happy Gilmore, Back at Beachley Classic
ASP Tour rookie Carissa Moore (HAW) claimed the title in Taranaki, New Zealand, breaking Stephanie Gilmore’s (AUS) winning streak, but did that hinder the three time world champion from her campaign for a fourth consecutive World Title? Hardly.
“It’s incredible how good this feels. Competing in Australia is one of my favorite things to do." Stephanie Gilmore
Rookie Carissa Moore Breaks Steph's Streak
Let the lesson be learned: if you hold a surfing competition in New Zealand, the Kiwis will show you how it’s done. For wildcard Sarah Mason (NZL),15, it didn’t matter if you were the three-time world champ, fellow Kiwi, or even her sister - she was in it, to win it.
Things really fell into place for me here in New Zealand, and it’s a great result for my campaign this year

Steph Gilmore Rings the Bell
Steph Gilmore Rings the Bell, Stays on Top of the ASP Women’s World Tour
With an index of frothing surfers on the ASP World Tour 2010, consistency can not be over- emphasized. As the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach comes to a close, the tour standings are distinct, as any surfer who has finished fifth or better has not slipped below that point, pushing the lower half of the tour to 9th and 17th place finishes.
"To ring the bell once is an amazing feeling, but three times? I don't think the gravity of it has sunk in yet", Stephanie Gilmore
Swami’s Surfing Competition Part 2
Contest Director of the Roxy Pro, and Encinitas local, Linda Benson pulled her proposal for an events permit at Swami’s after conversation with the Self-Realization Fellowship in the Meditation Gardens on Tuesday.
Linda sought to relocate the Women’s World Longboard Championship from Biarittz, France to the United States in October of 2010. The contest would be held in her hometown of Encinitas, CA at the surf break known as Swami’s.
It’s not because the event would harm or damage the surf break, because it wouldn’t. Linda Benson
Roxy Pro Gold Coast: Steph keeps sweeping
Sources say Stephanie Gilmore is not a name soon forgotten. Checking the ASP archives alone- the 22-year old Australian from New South Wales has nabbed 3 consecutive ASP World Titles; one for every year she has competed on tour since 2007 (Also the first rookie in history to claim the ASP World Title in her first year on tour.)
Combined with an incredible amount of ASP Dream Tour wins (11), style and a smile, Steph is the complete all-star status.
